MULTIPLATFORM PROJECTS
We can bring all of our media resources to bear on a project by using any combination of television, radio, the Internet, print media and community events.
CALL-INS AND PHONE BANKS
We often produce local programs to complement national shows on topics like Alzheimer's disease and child welfare. Call-in programs and phone banks connect our viewers and listeners with area resource experts.
COALITIONS
WSIU helps convene community coalitions to help address issues like human relations, elder care, encouraging healthy lifestyles and informed participation in the political process.
TELECONFERENCES
Teleconferencing is a cost effective way for WSIU to bring expert presenters together with our audiences to offer professional development and continuing education services. Advances in digital technology will expand WSIU's state of the art ability to deliver these services.
CONTESTS
Contests are always popular and fun for kids of all ages. Each year WSIU hosts a variety of local contests like the Reading Rainbow Young Writers and Illustrators Contest for children in kindergarten through third grades.
TOWN HALL MEETINGS
From political candidates forums to public affairs dialog on the key issues of the day, WSIU convenes town hall discussion in the best of our democratic tradition.
ACTIVITY GUIDES
Each year WSIU distributes tens of thousands of viewers guides, teachers guides, newsletters and toolkits about our programs. Some educators materials, such as simple discussion guides for Masterpiece Theatre, are mailed to high schools in our region. Other high quality, feature rich materials are made available on load to groups expressing their interest. Still more toolkits can be downloaded from the wsiu.org web site.
WORKSHOPS
WSIU conducts educational workshops on a range of topics in classrooms, libraries, community centers and other public places. It's a fun, informative and interactive way for people from all walks of life to meet each other and learn new skills.
SURVEYS
We take outreach to the next level by conducting surveys and opinion polls online and through the mail to get a better grasp of issues that are important in our region.
CORRESPONDENCE
We mail fact sheets, program schedules and response cards that enable viewers to give feedback and opinions about the shows you watch and feel passionate about.
POSTCARDS
A simple, low cost method we use is mailing postcards about upcoming programs to targeted groups who may be interested in an upcoming program. You may choose to watch a program as a group or even turn it into a community event.
