Charlie Birger

On Location With WSIU…

Creating reenactment scenes for The Legend of Charlie Birger was a monumental, often unpredictable, but ultimately rewarding task for WSIU Producer, David Kidd, and the station’s production crew. From Benton, Illinois to Paducah, Kentucky, area residents were eager to watch the crew in action and to show their support as scenes were set up and shot across the region.

Specific locations include, but are not limited to: the Lick Creek General Store in Buncombe; the Old Bond County State Bank in Pocahontas; several locations in Benton, including the Historic Jail Museum and the Old Scout Cabin; the Williamson County Historical Society (Old Williamson County Jail) in Marion; the Elite Firearms Testing Range in Paducah, KY; the White County Historical Society Museum in Carmi; the Old Squat Inn in Pittsburg; the Saline County Historical Society in Harrisburg; the Masonic Lodge in Herrin; the First Baptist Church in Murphysboro; and the SIU Police Firing Range in Carbondale.
