![]() WSIU Public Broadcasting's transition to Digital Television is underway! With the need to acquire digital television transmitters and maintain or improve existing analog transmitters for two sites (Tamaroa for the WSIU area and Dundas for the WUSI area) to comply with the federally mandated DTV conversion, WSIU has been busy researching, planning, and working with industry experts to help us meet the DTV conversion deadline. Due to scheduling issues, we filed for an extension with the FCC to allow us to push back the May 1, 2003 digital deadline to November. We are moving forward and are taking steps toward that goal - in fact, WSIU should be broadcasting a digital signal between June 1st and July 1st and WUSI should be on air with digital in August or September! Installation of new antennas at both the Tamaroa (WSIU) and Dundas (WUSI) transmitter sites began in April. Some viewers may experience signal reception problems until these upgrades are completed in May because we must operate on low power and temporary antennas during installation. Learn more about the antenna installation and possible service interruptions during that time or view the photo gallery below to see the installation process. And, visit our photo archives to see previous work towards our DTV transition!
