![]() Facing the Future: The River Region Responds goes beyond broadcasting to engage area communities in dialogue about the terrorist acts of September 11, 2001. We at WSIU Public Television, Channels 8 & 16, are saddened by the attacks of that day and by events that have occurred since. We extend our sympathy to local families whose lives have been affected.
The nature of these attacks has left many of us frightened and confused. Yet amid the chaos, Americans are infused with a spirit of patriotism and thirst for justice. All across the nation, diverse people are coming together in renewed enthusiasm for the democratic process. They are building coalitions, solving problems in their local communities, and engaging in active citizenship. This project is funded through an award from the National Center for Outreach. WSIU is among eight public stations in the country to receive the highest grant amount for this community response project. In coordination with schools, churches, community groups, and the WSIU Friends, we launched this web site to encourage interaction in response to the terrorist attacks on our nation. During this difficult time for our country, the open exchange of ideas can promote healing and prepare us for the future. We invite you to use the resources on this web site and to share your point of view. We want to hear from you. It's easy to Tell Us What You Think! When you share your thoughts with us, WSIU Public Televison will not use contact information for any purpose other than our own records. We do not share information with any other organization.
